Gmail IMAP sync issues that are affecting Outlook users

Google is looking into a service outage that is affecting Gmail users all over the world. It is causing problems when syncing emails with Microsoft servers via the Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP).

 

The users on affected devices report that they aren’t receiving emails and are having trouble syncing their Hotmail accounts.

Customers who have been affected have reported seeing “There was an issue with syncing this folder. Please retry later “errors.

A user said I hadn’t been able to sync my Hotmail account in the Gmail app for a few days. My Outlook account is fine; it’s just the Gmail app that isn’t working. I have tried everything to solve this problem, but nothing has worked.

 

 

Gmail IMAP issues

According to other reports, the Gmail mobile app is the one afflicted by continuous sync difficulties, while desktop apps continue to function normally.

The business has already recognized the allegations. According to an incident report issued earlier today on the Google Workspace Status Dashboard, it began investigating the issue. They investigated at 5:10 PM UTC, 20 minutes after it began.

 

Google claims IMAP syncs with Microsoft servers are failing, creating Gmail sync difficulties. At the moment, we think the problem mainly affects customers that sync their email from Outlook servers.

Customers using the app to access Microsoft Office 365 parent company email accounts across all device platforms are unable to sync fresh messages.

Google’s technical team is continually trying to determine the underlying cause of this ongoing outage. Furthermore, they will provide more information as it becomes available.

 

Workspace of Google company claims that the sync failures are not the result of Gmail authentication issues.

 

Furthermore, Gmail application authentication appears to be working fine for the company. According to an incident report, all efforts are being made to determine the root cause of the problem.
