Google Bard is scheduled to arrive “in the coming weeks.”

Google eventually entered the AI sweepstakes by launching Bard. It is an “experimental conversational AI service” that competes with ChatGPT, earlier this year. The AI-powered chatbot can operate as a poet, a rudimentary mathematician, and an even passable conversationalist.

In many aspects, the chatbot is comparable to ChatGPT. It can answer challenging questions moreover, it can provide in-depth information on various subjects in a friendly, conversational manner. The bot, however, sets itself apart from its competition by being online and providing “fresh, high-quality responses,”.

LaMDA, also known as Language Model for Dialogue Applications, powers Google Bard. After being trained on a large amount of data, it can comprehend written human language, similar to ChatGPT.

2023 Google I/O

With Google I/O the tech giant delves into the new features, gadgets, and upgrades throughout its product line. It is exciting to see what’s in store for Bard, Google Workspace company’s AI-powered chatbot. It has lagged behind its rivals in terms of features and functionality.

We want to see Google Bard catch up to ChatGPT - Microsoft Office 365 company’s AI-powered chatbot. Furthermore, we want to learn more about how precisely Google will achieve so during this year’s conference. It would also help propel Bard into the major leagues if we saw improved search engine integration. We hope Bard’s logical capabilities improve so it can compete with ChatGPT in coding and logical reasoning.

Currently, Google Bard allows you to click a button and Google any topic you’re discussing. This interrupts the flow of your “conversation” with the AI chatbot. It currently displays three draughts of its response to you. We’re looking for a little more sophistication. It would give the replies more authority and keep everything more organised if Bard could respond to the questions. Moreover, it would provide Google sources that people could link for further information. With the addition of such a function, Bard could start to feel more like a useful tool than just a silly chatroom.

 GOOGLE BARD

Similar to ChatGPT, Bard is a chatbot that is based on ‘large language models’ from deep learning, known as LaMDA.

Bard will first be made available on a “lightweight model version” of LaMDA. Because the smaller model requires less computing power, Workspace Google claims the chatbot can handle more users.

In the early stages of development, Google will mix its internal testing with our external comments to create Bard. For all its advantages, chatbots have also demonstrated a penchant for bad behaviours, such as prejudice and supporting cyberattacks.

Google is “excited” about the benefits of chatbot testing for the public. There are also drawbacks, which explains why the search engine giant has been so hesitant to let Bard go wild. However, the rapid growth of ChatGPT has pushed its hand and sped up the release of Bard.

WHAT CAN YOU DO USING GOOGLE’S BARD?

So far Google hasn’t been clear about Bard’s capabilities, but it has given some instances of what it can do. Essentially, Bard is an upgrade to Google Search that could revolutionise how we search for information online.

According to Google, Bard may be “an outlet for creativity” or “a launchpad for curiosity. It can help you to explain discoveries from NASA to a 9-year-old, or learn more about the best strikers in football right now, and then get drills to build your skills”.

Bard, compared to standard Google Search, uses online data to support its ability to comprehensively respond to more open-ended inquiries. Google claims responses that “distil complex information and multiple perspectives into easy-to-digest formats” will show up in searches soon.

When combined with voice-based assistants such as Google Assistant, we may soon see machines with artificial intelligence.

HOW DO GOOGLE BARD AND CHATGPT DIFFER?

The chatbot is built on technology that is comparable to ChatGPT. Both are chatbots built on “large language models,” machine learning algorithms with a variety of skills including text creation, translation, and responding to prompts based on the enormous datasets that they have been trained on.

The two chatbots are also improved by using human interactions to direct them towards desired replies. However, one possible distinction between the two is that ChatGPT is not yet linked to the internet, therefore it has very little information on events or facts occurring after 2021.

In contrast, Google claims that Bard “draws on information from the web” to offer current responses. This distinction between Bard and ChatGPT has not lasted for very long though. As Microsoft has already integrated ChatGPT with its search engine.

CAN YOU ONLY GET TEXT ANSWERS FROM GOOGLE BARD?

Google’s Bard, like ChatGPT, will initially solely respond to text questions with its written responses. LaMDA isn’t Google’s sole AI technology, so comparable advancements in the fields of video and audio are to be anticipated.

These could be a bit further off, even though that is really exciting. While starting with a lightweight version of LaMDA in Google Search, Google states it is “working to bring these latest AI advancements into our products.”
