Microsoft has confirmed a “multimillion-dollar investment” in Open AI. The company has announced that it would spend billions of dollars more on it with the creators of ChatGPT.

Microsoft Office 365 parent company announced in a blog “third phase of our long-term cooperation” with Open AI. The company is vowing to enhance the technology and make it available to everyone worldwide.

Furthermore, Microsoft believes that AI in supercomputing and research would result in commercially viable solutions for the corporation to capitalize on. While emphasizing previous demands such as its desire to incorporate ChatGPT into its Bing search engine.

AI for everyone

Microsoft provided financing for Open AI as a major investor and Elon Musk as a cofounder. This technology was founded in 2015.

AI looks to be attracting the attention of big tech. Microsoft thinks AI technologies are as transformative as the personal computer, the internet, mobile devices, and the cloud.

Google recently revealed a shift in focus to AI. However, this shift was not graceful as the method of layoffs. This is because they want to avoid falling behind popular systems like ChatGPT.

Microsoft 365 office parent company selected the primary areas where its investment will be directed in its objectives. To begin, it will be used to construct supercomputer systems in order to enhance AI research.

Additionally, it will expand the use of AI within its cloud computing service Azure. It will allow customers all around the world to benefit from it. The Azure Open AI service will provide customers with direct access to its models to use in constructing AI applications.

Indeed, Azure will power all Open AI workloads, including research assignments, products, and API services. Furthermore, this is consistent with Microsoft’s high cloud objectives. The company believes Azure will become an “AI supercomputer for the world, democratizing AI as a platform.”

Moreover, Open AI models were trained on Azure infrastructure and are now available as part of the service’s numerous AI services. These include the coding tool GitHub Copilot, picture generator DALLE 2, and chatbot ChatGPT.

Aside from Azure, the software giant plans to incorporate AI more extensively into customer and business products. Microsoft 365‘s parent company will accomplish this by creating “new categories of digital experiences” based on Open AI.

In conclusion:

Rather than compete against this technology, Microsoft stated that it’s involved in the partnership. The organization wants to responsibly promote cutting-edge AI research and democratize AI as a new technology platform.

Microsoft is collaborating on a new chapter of its relationship with Azure. This offers developers and organizations access to the greatest AI infrastructure, models, and toolchains on the market.

Open AI claims Microsoft shares our ideals and we will continue our independent research and work toward producing breakthrough AI that benefits everyone.

Several companies, including Microsoft and Open AI, have expressed concern about AI safety. In addition, Microsoft has developed a framework for its Responsible AI Standard. It hopes this will guide the industry in safely developing AI systems. This is known as AI Alignment, which ensures that AI is aligned with human values and intent.
