Just in time for Google I/O 2021, the company redesigns its Android developer website

Google has just refreshed the Android developer website, giving it a fresh coat of paint with new page formats, colors, and more, just weeks before Google I/O 2021.

The new version of Android’s developer website is heavily influenced by what’s going on with Google’s other web applications, including the Google Developer portal, Calendar, and Gmail.

When viewed side by side, the difference is obvious, and it also makes the web feel more contemporary. The UI components are rounded in certain areas, the colours are vibrant, and the overall interface looks more deserving of a platform dedicated to helping Android developers create quality games.

Is this indicative of what we can get from Google I/O? It’s most likely a coincidence, but we’ve been anticipating some Material Design updates in Android 12 this year.

The new design seems to be live for all at this time, although the old design is already cached in Google. It does not, however, refer to the Android Developer Blog. Visit developer.android.com to see it for yourself.
