Outlook appearance will get a simplified and classic do-over.

Thanks to a new upgrade, Microsoft Outlook users will soon be able to modify their layout with a nod to the past. The email service will soon feature two additional types of “ribbons” – the navigation bar that displays choices and tools. The two new ribbon kinds, simplified and classic, are intended to provide users with a more customized, but more recognizable, appearance in their email inboxes and folders.

The new features pay homage to the past and may seem recognizable to people who have used Outlook for a while. According to the Microsoft 365 parent company the new ribbons are designed after their equivalents on the original Outlook for Windows platforms in order to offer a more familiar experience across applications. The new ribbons will be available to all Outlook Web users shortly. Currently, they are under development they have an estimated general availability date of September 2022, so users don’t have to wait too long.

Recently, Microsoft has been working hard at adjusting and improving its email infrastructure to provide customers with the best possible experience. The business recently revealed its new One Outlook platform, which offers a clean, minimalist visual in keeping with the Windows 11 design philosophy, as well as associated applications like Calendar and Contacts.

Teams parent company has also just informed customers that the placement of several message writing tools in Outlook on the web will be changing soon. The updates involve changes in send and discard options as well formatting choices. It is not specified where the choices will be relocated, but it would be quite similar to the current layout on the desktop version of Outlook. Since Microsoft claims that the update brings the web experience closer to the traditional and new Outlook for Windows, it would be similar to the previous email clients.
