Microsoft is expanding OneDrive’s picture editing and viewing capabilities, bringing it closer to Google Photos. You can now use the file syncing app to crop images (using presets for social media or manually); rotate or flip an image by 90 degrees or 180 degrees, respectively, and straighten tilted pictures; and adjust the brightness, exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, and color saturation starting on Android and the web.

Anyone who has done some rudimentary picture editing will recognize the changes. Microsoft Office 365 OneDrive can save your modifications as a new file or replace the old image if you stick to the formula. You may also utilize version history to go back to the source if you make a mistake.

Microsoft is bringing editing features to OneDrive personal accounts this summer, with plans to expand to business and school accounts later in the year. Additionally, the update adds Chromecast functionality, allowing you to cast your picture and video files to a TV by pressing the new cast option in the home tab. A new filter option allows you to pick between photographs in your pictures folder and all of your photos on OneDrive.

Microsoft is also working on better photo organizing, which will automatically place photographs in folders based on the source of their submission. As a consequence, you’ll be able to distinguish between Instagram and Snapchat downloads and screenshots and movies in the near future.

You’ll be able to automatically arrange media files by month and year if you prefer sorting by date. On Android, that upgrade is expected to arrive in the following two months.
