Hotmail: The latest spam failure is Microsoft’s difficulty

Spam sandwich with, um, spam on the side According to recent reports, Hotmail officially known as Microsoft Outlook has been experiencing problems with its junk email filtering systems. In addition, it allows a torrent of spam into users’ inboxes.

People have flocked to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction; however, it is yet unknown what is causing the issue. Furthermore, Microsoft has reached out to some affected users on social media with invites to DM to discuss the problem. However, no official statement has been issued declaring this to be the result of a specific known flaw or glitch.

While we don’t have specific figures, we can confirm that the problem is widespread. Members of the news website have been flooded with spam emails all day. Hotmail is suddenly trending on Twitter. This has upset some Microsoft 365 parent company executives, especially since these tweeters aren’t even using the right name.

Analysis: Big M is in even more peril

Microsoft Office 365 parent company has had a fantastic year thus far. Bing and Microsoft Edge feature the AI tool ChatGPT, which was a major announcement from the company. Yet it only took a week for the chatbot to start delivering bizarre messages to users.
Now the search engine is in hot water again, with consumers enraged by a flood of shady emails arriving in their inboxes. This has put them in fear of their email security.
People are already making memes about the alleged failure of the spam filter. Some are speculating that someone at Microsoft mistakenly flipped a switch they shouldn’t have. We feel compelled to point out that this is almost probably not how it works, but it’s an interesting concept anyway.

In any case, no suitable patch is currently available. However, we’ll be updated as soon as Microsoft resolves the issue. When you configure Outlook/Hotmail’s junk filter, you can specify a level of protection. The higher the setting, the more aggressively the system will target spam emails. However, you risk sending legitimate emails to your junk folder as well.

Most email platforms, including Outlook, allow you to mark specific domains as spam sources. However, spammers typically avoid these filters by using domain generators. The spam filter flaws are also interfering with Outlook’s ‘focused inbox’ setting, which is designed to highlight only important emails.
