App developers of Apple Maps has had a built-in rating system since iOS 14’s debut, allowing you to rate shops, restaurants, and other areas of interest. That function was previously only accessible in Australia and Japan, but as MacRumors points out, it is now available in the United States and Canada. 

For the most part, the feature works. It works on the basis of a basic thumbs up or down method. When you press one of the icons, a secondary interface appears, asking you to give your thoughts on certain features of the company or restaurant. 

For example, you can assess the cuisine, customer service, and atmosphere in the latter scenario. You may also add your own photo to a listing using the same pane. 

According to an Apple spokesman, Maps would propose donations based on your device history, as well as images in your camera roll. Any recommendations you get recommending you contribute to a listing will come from analysis Maps does on-device, and your name will not show with any ratings you leave. 

You can’t write a written review right now, so Maps’ existing partnerships with platforms like Yelp and Tripadvisor will continue to operate. Apple may be building the basis for a more thorough review system like what Google Maps provides, but it will have to wait until later.
